Andra Rush to Entrepreneurs: ‘Do What You Say, Say What You Do’

By Nick Mattar

Rush Group LLC founder Andra Rush addressed 70 Detroit Regional Chamber members and other business leaders at Inside the CEO Mind this week, discussing her journey as a female business owner through thoughtful tips and humorous anecdotes. Rush gave attendees insight into how she launched Rush Trucking with three vehicles and grew her company into an award-winning manufacturing and logistics hub.

Hosted at The Rattlesnake Club in Detroit, Rush followed up her remarks by participating in a question-and-answer session with the audience. She provided some tips for budding entrepreneurs and small business owners:

  • Do what you say and say what you do. In business it is important to keep your word and follow through on larger projects or smaller tasks.
  • When starting a business, make sure you have a great chief financial officer and operations people. Being able to manage finances and the physical aspects of a business are paramount.
  • Take advantage of as many networking opportunities as possible. Making connections with other professionals is necessary to move a company forward.

Other questions from the audience focused on a myriad of topics, from the prospect of flying cars to the latest disruptive technology in manufacturing. Rush Group LLC is headquartered in Wayne and now features a network of more than 500 tractors, 1,000 trailers and 500 company drivers.
