Bill KohlerBill Kohler is a partner at Clark Hill and chairs the firm’s Automotive and Manufacturing Practice Group. During his 26-year career in the automotive industry, he has been centrally involved in the industry’s major trends, representing automotive suppliers and vehicle manufacturers in the industry’s most significant mergers and acquisitions, strategic affiliations, globalization efforts, recall and warranty cost allocation disputes, bankruptcies, supplier disputes and supplier workout situations.

Prior to joining Clark Hill, Kohler served as the vice president and general counsel of Johnson Controls’ automotive operations, where he was responsible for all legal, governmental and environmental affairs of the company’s largest business unit.

Kohler has extensive domestic and international experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, distribution arrangements, supply arrangements, supplier and customer workouts and bankruptcies, and intellectual property arrangements. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and a law degree from the University of Michigan, as well as an MBA from Michigan State University.
