CEO Panel Look into Importance of Collaboration in Manufacturing

Jay Timmons made it clear this afternoon that manufacturing companies who survived the recession and came out leaner and more efficient in the end should all be considered advanced manufacturers. Timmons, the president and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers, began this session by praising Governor Snyder for his diligence, making the point that policy is important to creating a quality manufacturing environment.

Joining Timmons for a panel discussion were Andra Rush, founder, president and CEO, Rush Group LLC; and Mark Weishaar, CEO and president, Sturgis Molded Products; and moderator Mark Davidoff, Michigan managing partner, Deloitte LLP. The panel look at the need for greater engagement in the industry on a federal level from tax codes to hiring incentives to the critical importance of immigration reform. Rush provided a great example of dedication to Michigan manufacturing by keeping her company in the state despite tempting offers to move elsewhere.

This session was sponsored by Ford Motor Company.
