| DETROIT REGIONAL CHAMBER WELCOMES MAUREEN DONOHUE KRAUSS, VICE PRESIDENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, BUSINESS ATTRACTION |
|
DETROIT, November 2, 2011 -- Today, the Detroit Regional Chamber announced that it has hired Maureen Donohue Krauss as Vice President of Economic Development, Business Attraction. She will begin work at the Chamber on December 1, 2011, and will be responsible for strategy, operations and projects of the Chamber’s Business Attraction program, a key part of the Chamber’s Economic Development program portfolio. Krauss served as Director for the Department of Economic Development and Community Affairs for Oakland County, Michigan following her promotion to that position in 2009. She previously served as Deputy Director from 2005-09, and originally began work with Oakland County in 1998. “Maureen is a respected and accomplished veteran in the global business attraction and retention community, as evidenced by Oakland County’s remarkable success in this area,” said Benjamin Erulkar, Senior Vice President of Economic Development for the Detroit Regional Chamber. “Business Attraction is a vital initiative within the Chamber’s Economic Development portfolio, and we are very pleased that Maureen will join us to develop and lead a world-class effort to bring talent and capital to the Detroit region and the State of Michigan.” “I am honored to be joining the Chamber after thirteen wonderful years working for L. Brooks Patterson,” said Krauss. “While the decision to leave Oakland County was difficult, the opportunity to work with the Chamber’s public and private partners to attract talent and capital regionally and statewide is very appealing.” In 2003, Krauss served as the President of the Michigan Economic Developers Association. She is an active member of the German American and the French American Chambers of Commerce, and is on the board of the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce of Detroit, the Italian American Alliance for Business and Technology, and the British American Business Council. Krauss earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Albion College and a master's degree in public policy from the University of Michigan and is a graduate of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Leadership Detroit Class of 2009. She lives in Rochester Hills with her husband and her two children. About the Detroit Regional Chamber With over 20,000 members and affiliates, that employ over three quarters of a million workers, the Detroit Regional Chamber is one of the largest chambers of commerce in the country. The Chamber’s mission is carried out through business attraction efforts, advocacy, strategic partnerships and providing valuable benefits to members.
