Dan Kildee

U.S. Representative (D-MI 5)

Born and raised in Flint, Rep. Dan Kildee is a lifelong Michigander. In Congress, he serves in House Democratic Leadership, on the Ways and Means and Budget Committees, and has proven he can bring people together to get real results for Michigan. Kildee has worked to strengthen neighborhoods and make communities safer, including securing hundreds of millions of dollars to remove abandoned buildings across the state. During Flint’s water crisis, he worked to bring much needed relief to Flint families, working to pass a $170 million aid package for the city.

Before serving in Congress, Kildee co-founded and led the Center for Community Progress, a national nonprofit focused on urban land reform. He also founded Michigan’s first land bank, which is responsible for tens of millions of dollars in redevelopment. Kildee started his career at Whaley Children’s Center as a social worker, where he helped support children who have experienced trauma and abuse.
