Detroit Regional Chamber, PMBC Promoting Michigan Supply Chain at Paris Air Show

Note: Justin Robinson of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Business Attraction team is in France this week for the 50th Paris Air Show – a key global event for the aviation and space industry that draws exhibitors, delegations and trade visitors from around the world. The Chamber is teaming up with Pure Michigan Business Connect (PMBC) on this trip to expose global companies to Michigan’s first-rate supply chain with the goal of getting these firms to locate in the Detroit region. He will blog periodically from the event.

Black Hawk helicopterWith the Paris Air Show in full swing, Tuesday and Wednesday were full of productive meetings. Already we have identified two immediate aerospace attraction projects that we will compete to bring to the Detroit region and state of Michigan. In addition, we have had great success in promoting the state’s Pure Michigan Business Connect program. Companies here have shown interest in the opportunity to source work from Michigan suppliers and it appears this interest could result in real bid opportunities through PMBC.

In addition to the meetings and contacts being developed, the information we are gathering at the show is invaluable. With more than 2,200 companies exhibiting their products and latest technology, it allows us to better understand where Michigan’s supply chain fits best within this global industry.

Today, we will be learning about firms from Canada and France and participating in an evening reception with the French Aerospace Industries Association. We hope to be able to connect with Airbus’s European supply chain that is looking to expand into the U.S. in order to supply their new Mobile, Alabama operation.

Check back on Friday for an update of the week’s activities. Check out more photos on Facebook.
