At the Forefront of Education Reform
Education is essential to improving the quality of life and economic competitiveness of any region, and is a critical component of a thriving business environment. The Detroit Regional Chamber supports policies and programs that improve K-12 education in the region and increase access to higher education. The Chamber works on a daily basis with educators, government leaders and businesses to raise the overall quality of the education system as well as the achievement levels of individual students.

Excellent Schools Detroit
Members of the Chamber serve on the board of Excellent Schools Detroit, a coalition of Detroit’s education, government, community and philanthropic leaders that recommends bold steps so that every Detroit child is in an excellent school by 2020. The plan calls for Detroit to be the first major U.S. city where 90 percent of students graduate from high school, 90 percent of those graduates enroll in college or a quality post-secondary training program, and 90 percent of enrollees are prepared to succeed without remediation.
