SenatorPetersHeadshot3Elected in 2014, Gary Peters is a U.S. senator from Michigan and a member of the Democratic Party. Peters’ top priority is to continue supporting job creation and economic growth to strengthen small businesses and the middle class.

Peters serves on the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Homeland Security and Government Reform Committee, the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship and the Joint Economic Committee. He is committed to working with members of both parties to find commonsense, practical and bipartisan solutions to the challenges facing Michigan and the nation.

First elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008, Peters served in the House Financial Services Committee, where he played a central role in shaping the toughest financial reform law since the Great Depression. Drawing on his business background, he also helped to make Washington more transparent and accountable, leading efforts to eliminate wasteful spending and responsibly reduce the national deficit.
