Ideal Setech Recognized by General Motors as a 2016 Supplier of the Year Winner

April 18, 2017

Ideal Setech was named a GM Supplier of the Year by General Motors during its 25th annual Supplier of the Year awards ceremony held Friday, March 31 in Orlando, Florida.

GM recognized 118 of its best suppliers from 15 countries that have consistently exceeded GM’s expectations, created outstanding value or brought new innovations to the company. The announcement represented the most suppliers GM has recognized since debuting the Supplier of the Year event in 1992. This is the 4th time Ideal Setech has received the award.

“We are focused on building positive supplier relationships, bringing new, customer-centric innovations to GM and being the OEM of choice among suppliers,” said Steve Kiefer, GM vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “The companies we recognize tonight not only have brought innovation, they delivered it with the quality our customers deserve.”

More than half of the suppliers are repeat winners from 2015.

“It is an honor to be recognized as one of GM’s Best Suppliers, and all Ideal Setech employees take great pride in this accomplishment,” stated Jesse Venegas, Vice President of Ideal Setech.”2016 was a demanding year for Ideal Setech. We had four SAP launches at Arlington Assembly, Warren Tech Center, Pontiac GPS, and Milford Proving Grounds.”

“We also worked hard at the Share-The-Spare program by continuing to push ourselves to be Best-In-class with GMS, and push our programs to bring more value to GM plants,” Venegas continued. “All this was accomplished while maintaining our high-level of performance at our other GM operations at Warren Transmission, Lansing Delta Assembly, Lansing Grand River Assembly, and Lansing CCA.  We thank all our Partners at GM for this recognition and will continue to drive continuous improvement in 2017!”

Winning suppliers were chosen by a global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives and selected based on performance criteria in Product Purchasing, Indirect Purchasing, Customer Care and Aftersales, and Logistics.

“I am very proud of the Ideal Setech and Ideal Setech Share the Spare teams,” stated Ted O’Leary, General Manager at Ideal Setech. “They have done a great job in reaching excellence for our customer. They have continued to work in partnership and grow in quality of service they provide. The growth of the last year has brought some challenges but our team has been able to rise to the occasion and the growth has brought a wealth of new talent to our team. We look forward to another great year!”
