January Member of the Month: Detroit Auto Dealers Association

The Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) has been selected as Member of the Month for January in recognition of Executive Director Rod Alberts’ leadership role in transitioning the show from January to June beginning in 2020. The move will allow for greater flexibility among OEMs and technology companies, further positioning Detroit as a global newsmaker among international media. The Member of the Month is awarded to Detroit Regional Chamber members working to positively impact Southeast Michigan’s economy.

The NAIAS has been a critical institution in Detroit for decades. In 2018 alone, NAIAS had an estimated $480 million economic impact on Detroit’s economy. Every year, the show brings increased visitors and industry stakeholders to the area and highlights Detroit as a leader in automotive and mobility innovation.

As executive director of NAIAS, Alberts manages all aspects of the show, including worldwide and North American vehicle unveils, more than 5,000 international media, and more than 750,000 visitors who attend the show annually.

As NAIAS enters into its final year in January, the Chamber acknowledges the important economic contributions the show has made to Detroit, and will continue to make in years to come. A summer auto show will allow participating brands to continue to deliver dynamic exhibits and experiential opportunities outside of Cobo Center’s four walls, increasing interest for journalists, industry leaders and consumers.
