L. Brooks Patterson is the county executive of Oakland County, one of America’s most affluent and progressive counties. Currently in his sixth four-year term, following re-election in 2012, Patterson presides over an $800 million annual budget and a county workforce of nearly 4,000 full and part-time benefit eligible employees.
During his administration, Oakland County has attained and maintained a coveted AAA bond rating for its prudent fiscal policies and its successful transformation from an economy focused on manufacturing to one that is primarily knowledge-based. He has also launched a number of innovative programs, which include the adoption of a three-year budget, Medical Main Street, the Emerging Sectors Initiative and Automation Alley.
