New Development Officer Joins JVS Team

October 20, 2016
JVS is pleased to welcome Michael Silverstein as chief development officer. He will be responsible for the agency’s development strategy and fundraising, including donor stewardship.

A Troy resident, Silverstein previously served in senior development roles in academia, including director of development for Oakland University School of Business Administration and major gifts officer at Wayne State University Law School. Previously, Silverstein held positions in both sales and marketing with such firms as Steelcase Inc., GMF Robotics and Saturn Corporation.

“I am delighted to be joining an organization as highly regarded as JVS,” said Silverstein. “I have long appreciated what JVS brings to the community and am honored to be part of their leadership team. We have a strong and passionate group of donors and volunteers and I can already feel their energy.”

This year marks JVS’s 75th anniversary. The Southfield-based agency helps people from all walks of life maximize their self-sufficiency through job counseling, training and a wide range of programs and support services.

“While the success of the JVS is well known and appreciated, we are working very hard to ensure that the best is yet to come,” said Leah Rosenbaum, JVS president and CEO. “Michael’s development and marketing expertise will help us build our momentum and continue our commitment to excellence in serving our community for the next 75 years.”
