October 1, 2013: Detroit-Area Business Leaders Launch National ‘Here’s $250 Billion’ Ad; MI Health Answers Provides Health Care Reform Expertise

Detroit-Area Business Leaders Launch National ‘Here’s $250 Billion’ Ad

A group of Detroit-area organizations led by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) and DTE Energy made a strong push over the past week for Detroit to gain positive attention, launching a national ad campaign called “Here’s $250 Billion“. Printed in 11 local and national outlets including the Detroit Free Press, New York Times and Washington Post, the ad showcases the positive future that Detroit has despite its municipal bankruptcy.

The ad brought to light the $250 billion combined market value of the companies and organizations in the Detroit region that are featured in the ad, demonstrating the high level of opportunity in the area and noting the businesses and people that have a significant impact on the national and international economies. The Detroit Regional Chamber is one of 28 area organizations that signed on to and appear at the bottom of the ad, which ran from Sept. 22 to Sept. 30.

“We had grown weary of the onslaught of negative reports that painted Detroit as a dying city, so we asked our peers to join us in a statement of support,” wrote Dan Loepp, CEO of BCBSM. “Hopefully this ad encourages people to look beyond the city’s current financial situation and see the promise that we know is ahead.”
