Chamber Alliance for Health Reform

As the federal government prepares for an overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system, the Detroit Regional Chamber is spearheading a new advocacy outreach program to help chambers shape the legislative debate on health care reform.  We created the Chamber Alliance for Health Reform (CAHR) because health care reform impacts not only access to and quality of health care in America, but also the bottom line of businesses and the health of the economy.

A membership in CAHR gives your chamber a stronger voice communicating with policymakers about the important effect health care reform could have on the business community.  Membership is free and we work to make your participation as easy as possible.

The following are .pdfs you may download for more information and share with others online:

Oliver Wyman, Inc. – a highly respected actuarial firm – issued a report on October 14 that found key insurance reform provisions included in the Senate Finance Committee bill would dramatically increase costs for individual and small employer coverage. Oliver Wyman concluded that a last minute Senate amendment would drive up health insurance costs because people could wait until they are sick to purchase coverage. Below are the key message points. You may view and download the entire report at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association site.
