DETROIT, January 16, 2013 – Today, Detroit Regional Chamber President and CEO Sandy K. Baruah issued the following statement on Governor Rick Snyder’s State of the State Address:
“Since taking office, Governor Snyder has ignited Michigan’s economic recovery. Our state has made phenomenal progress under his leadership and with the support of the Legislature. Investing in roads and bridges is the next step in Michigan’s re-invention and will drive economic growth. States that don’t maintain their roads will fall progressively behind national and global competitors – and on this score Michigan is behind. The Chamber applauds the Governor for tackling this critical issue because the only thing businesses get from poorly maintained roads are flat tires on their way out of town. The Chamber encourages the Legislature to find bipartisan solutions to address road maintenance and other key issues such as the modernization of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and education reform.”
