Douglas Marketing Group’s trademarked software rewrites the playbook for non-profit cause marketing and fund development

Douglas Marketing Group’s (DMG) new marketing campaign software is poised to change the way non-profits approach cause marketing and fund development. Kay Douglas, president and founder of the international marketing and communications firm, says DMG’s Big Picture Landscape® marketing software is resonating among healthcare clients with small budgets – and big fundraising goals.

The DMG Big Picture Landscape®, which serves as a marketing brand management software and visual roadmap, allows purchasers to access licensed campaign materials and the user-friendly graphics and editing options built into the software so that organizations can personalize the material with their own name and images without changing the overall design.

“Through the software and the licensing arrangement, we are able to resell a fully developed, highly successful campaign to other health organizations anywhere in North America for a fraction of the cost they would pay for the design and implementation of a new campaign,” Douglas said. “In addition, the DMG companion return on investment software, ROIALLY™, tracks and visually displays statistics for each marketing initiative within the campaign, as well as campaign sales and costs.”

Douglas offers an example of how the Big Picture Landscape® worked for one wildly successful fund development campaign.

In 2012, DMG created the It’s In Your Jeans™ men’s prostate cancer and health awareness campaign for the Windsor Essex Cancer Centre Foundation in Windsor, Ontario. The campaign helped the Centre surpass its fundraising goals by $1.4 million, six months in advance of the target date. (It was the third fund development campaign created by DMG where the client exceeded its goal prior to the deadline.) DMG and the Windsor Essex Cancer Centre entered into an agreement to trademark It’s In Your Jeans™, with the Foundation positioned for proceeds from the licensing. In 2016, with six international It’s In Your Jeans™ creative awards under its belt, DMG has licensed the campaign to a Michigan-based philanthropic concern with a grassroots budget.

Douglas explained the genesis of the It’s In Your Jeans™ campaign.

“Fund marketing campaigns need to touch the head and heart. Jeans were the foundation of the campaign because they are a common element relatable to men and women of all ages and all walks of life,” Douglas said. “It’s a fun yet powerful educational approach to very serious health matters. With continued implementation, It’s In Your Jeans’™ impact on men’s cancer awareness and fundraising has tremendous potential to improve health outcomes beyond borders.”

Douglas continues that DMG is in talks now with an internationally recognized healthcare organization eager to purchase one of its 2016 award-winning public service campaigns and share it globally.

“The ability to purchase software for a turnkey marketing campaign launch that has already proven successful is transformative, not only for fund development and cause marketing but for the agency world,” Douglas said. “DMG already has business relationships on both sides of the border, but with this software, we can expand our global reach.”

Douglas Marketing Group hires veteran Detroit leader for its U.S. office expansion; U.S./Canada cross-border marketing initiatives define firm’s 25-year history

Douglas Marketing Group LLC (DMG), an international marketing and communications firm with a 25-year history of award-winning creative initiatives, announced Sandy Hudson has joined the firm as Vice President to lead its Detroit office. The announcement was made by DMG President and Founder, Kay Douglas.

“The hiring of Sandy Hudson is the culmination of a ten-year business relationship that has grown through trust, creativity and ongoing collaborations,” Douglas said. “He’s a confident leader and team builder with strong Detroit roots and is uniquely positioned to lead the expansion of our client base in the Detroit market and to continue building a national footprint of clients.”

Hudson has been a mainstay in the Detroit healthcare and nonprofit scene, with six years as Chief Development Officer for Henry Ford Health System and three years leading the Detroit Wayne County Health Authority, among his impressive credentials. Immediately prior to joining DMG, Hudson established the Detroit-based Wins for Warriors Foundation for Detroit Tigers pitcher, Justin Verlander, and served as the organization’s CEO and Executive Director. At DMG, Hudson will direct the activities of the Detroit office, including staff supervision, business development and community outreach.

Under Hudson’s direction, DMG USA immediately plans to roll out DMG’s Big Picture Landscape® communications management software and ROIAlly™ return on investment application to U.S. clients, while expanding the Detroit team with creative and support positions focused on technology-infused marketing.

DMG has been a committed civic partner in Detroit for the last 15 years, providing support to numerous nonprofits. Douglas, who has led a variety of Detroit and Windsor initiatives, including serving as Past President of Executive Women International Detroit – Windsor Chapter, expressed her enthusiasm for strengthening DMG’s ties in the U.S. during the firm’s 25th anniversary year.

“We are pleased to continue serving our long-time U.S. clients and are excited about the growth opportunities here in Detroit,” Douglas said. “Douglas Marketing Group has a strong foothold in the Detroit/Windsor region, and it’s one of the many unique distinctions that set us apart. When the business launched in 1991, it did so by thinking big, never pigeonholing DMG as a small, Windsor-based firm. Instead, DMG was positioned as an asset to an international region, and our longstanding client relationships on both sides of the border support that view.”

DMG has 15 staff members and offices in Detroit and Windsor, Amherstburg and Welland, Ontario. With an early focus on technology and trademarked and licensable marketing campaigns that have been launched in Michigan and Ontario, DMG has built a reputation as a cross-border powerhouse. Hudson welcomes the opportunity to lead DMG USA as the firm enters its next evolution.

“Detroit is ripe for a marketing and communications firm that can leverage its top-notch creative talent and a tech innovation focus with extensive knowledge of cross-border business development with clients that see business opportunity within this international region,” Hudson said. “I am honored to be a part of a company that has such strong business and community relationships, and we will build on that success to bring our talents and expertise to even more clients throughout the next 25 years.”

Hudson holds a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan and an undergraduate degree in political science from Union College. He is a resident of Grosse Pointe Woods.
