Walsh Golf Event Raises Over $72K in Scholarship Funds

TROY, Mich., June 26, 2019 — Gray skies didn’t keep golfers away from the 28th Annual Walsh Scholarship Golf Classic on Monday, June 24 at Franklin Hills Country Club in Franklin, Mich., where more than $72,000 was raised to fund scholarships for Walsh students. Presenting event sponsors included Fifth Third Bank, Plastipak Packaging, Inc. and Dynamic Marketing.

More than 100 people attended, including David Girodat, regional president, Fifth Third Bank (Eastern Michigan), event committee chair and double Walsh alumnus. Scholarship recipient Chris Gagnon addressed the audience during lunch. Gagnon will complete his master’s program in the fall and already has a position waiting for him at a major certified public accounting and business advisory firm.

“Knowing there are complete strangers who care enough to support scholarships and see students like me succeed inspires me to someday afford others the same opportunity,” said Gagnon.

“Fifth Third Bank is committed to improving lives of people in the communities we serve, including college students like Chris,” said Girodat. “We are proud to sponsor the Walsh Scholarship Golf Classic.”

Alumnus Richard Pearson (’61) founded the Walsh Scholarship Golf Classic in 1991. To date, it has raised more than $1.5 million in scholarship funds.

IPS Technology Services Wins a Website and Ecommerce Development Project from a Manufacturing Company in SE Michigan

Troy– Jan 30, 2014 – IPS Technology Services was recently awarded a Website and Ecommerce development contract by a golf club manufacturer headquartered in southeast Michigan.

Under this contract, IPS will completely overhaul the current website and add an Ecommerce feature to it. According to the golf club manufacturing company, the look and feel of the current website is not professional and its ecommerce component is clunky. “If a client comes to the website, it is hard to find any meaningful information and the online purchase experience is not user-friendly. This is causing us to lose business or leave money on the table,” says the owner of the company who has recently relocated to Michigan from the South.

IPS Technology Services will completely redo the website by restructuring it appropriately and giving it a fresh look. IPS will also add multiple new Ecommerce features and streamline the purchasing process so that a visitor can find and buy items quickly. IPS will also add three critically important items: the option for the user to customize a club prior to purchase, the ability to generate reports showing purchase status of visitors, and full integration of the website sales information with Quick Books.

All these features will help the client to increase revenue, improve client relationships and streamline operations. By investing in this project, the client will experience a both a cost savings on their website and a revenue increase from an improved customer transactional experience.

Charity golf event raises record amount for Ronald McDonald House of Detroit

Vinni’s Children’s Charity Golf Outing raises $30,000-plus for Ronald McDonald House of Detroit

Auburn Hills, MI – The Vinni’s Children’s Charity Golf Outing raised a record amount of more than $30,000 at its 11th annual event to benefit the Ronald McDonald House® of Detroit. The June 7 event drew 130 golfers who played 18 holes at the Fieldstone Golf Club in Auburn Hills followed by a celebration dinner at the clubhouse.

Funds were raised through a golfer fee, sponsorships, a silent auction and raffle. Proceeds will help fund operations for the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit, which serves as a “home away from home” for families that have critically ill children at a nearby hospital.

“The sponsorships were at an all-time high and we had many new teams of golfers,” said Jennifer Litomisky, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House. “This year, we added an online registry for the silent auction items, which really helped out. The event keeps growing and getting better. It’s a fun event that attracts golfers and their families and businesses.”

Among attendees were event founder Vinni Adranga and his son, Cary Adranga, who now runs the event. Thad Szott, of Szott Automotive sponsored the top prizes of a one-week car rental of a Jeep and Charger for the men’s and women’s longest drive. GM also contributed a one-week car rental as a prize. The main sponsor was WellDyne, promoting WellCard Health. Mrs. Michigan Jennifer McMahan, of Royal Oak, was there to support the cause.

Szott has had personal experience with the Ronald McDonald House. His family stayed there while his son, Shane, was hospitalized for nearly one month due to a near fatal kidney condition. In gratitude for his son’s full recovery and the homelike experience at the Ronald McDonald House, Szott now sits on its Board of Directors and is an ongoing contributor to the organization financially and through volunteer work.

The mission of the Ronald McDonald House® of Detroit is to serve families of sick children with a “home away from home.” Only minutes away from Children’s Hospital of Michigan and a short drive to other hospitals, families can nurture and support their kids undergoing specialized medical treatment. A nominal daily fee is charged for a guest room and use of common areas including a kitchen, play and entertainment areas (no family is turned away due to a lack of funds).

Golf outing to benefit Ronald McDonald House of Detroit

The 11th annual Vinni’s Children’s Charity Golf Outing to benefit the Ronald McDonald House® of Detroit will take place June 7 at the Fieldstone Golf Club in Auburn Hills. The event starts at 9 a.m. with 18 holes of golf with cart, and includes lunch, dinner, a silent auction, prizes and raffles. The event is open to the public; admission is $125 per golfer or $500 per team.

The Vinni’s Children’s Charity Golf Outing raises money to help fund operations for the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit, which serves as a “home away from home” for families that have critically ill children at a nearby hospital.

Last year’s successful outing raised more than $30,000. Sponsorships and auction items are still being accepted. The top sponsor of this year’s event is Welldyne, a pharmaceutical company. To become a sponsor, donate an auction item or register for the golf outing, call 313-745-5909 or sign up online at www.rmhc-detroit.org.
