Brooks Kushman Shareholder to Discuss Securing 360-degree Protection at IP in the Auto Industry Conference

Brooks Kushman Shareholder Frank Angileri will serve on a panel at the IP in the Auto Industry conference on May 3, 2016.. Brooks Kushman Named Managing IP Patent Litigation Firm of the Year, Shareholder recognized as “Michigan IP Litigator of the Year”

Brooks Kushman is pleased to announce it has been recognized as the Patent Litigation Contentious Firm of the Year in the Midwest by Managing Intellectual Property (IP) Magazine.

In addition to the firm’s litigation recognition, Shareholder Frank Angileri has been named Michigan’s IP Litigator of the Year for the second consecutive year. The awards were presented at the Managing IP North American Awards dinner on March 17th, 2016 in Washington, D.C.

Angileri, who also serves as Co-Chair of Brooks Kushman’s Post-Grant Proceedings practice, was recognized for his litigation and Patent Trial and Appeal Board work throughout the year. Under his direction, the firm filed over 30 inter partes review proceedings in 2015. Angileri was also lead counsel for an automotive supplier that received a significant settlement in a patent litigation suit in 2015 (I.E.E. Brooks Kushman Intellectual Property Litigation Attorney Honored as a 2016 “Leader in the Law”

Brooks Kushman shareholder, John S. LeRoy, has been named a 2016 “Leader in the Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. LeRoy will be recognized along with 30 other honorees including prominent counsel and judges at the 2016 Leaders in the Law award ceremony hosted by Michigan Lawyers Weekly on Thursday, March 17th, 2016 in Troy.

Brooks Kushman Attorney Named IPO Licensing Committee Secretary

Brooks Kushman attorney Christopher C. Smith has been chosen to serve as Secretary on the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) IP Licensing Committee for the 2016 term. The committee which includes approximately 50 members from across the country, focuses on intellectual property licensing and related matters and issues providing members the opportunity for discussion, review and analysis of topics or issues associated with patent, technology/trade secret, software/copyright and trademark licensing; cross and joint licensing; licensing for income or other business value; industry and market trends; best practices; agreements and agreement provisions; impact or relevance of bankruptcy, anti-trust, standards, and compulsory licensing.

As Secretary, Smith will prepare an agenda for each month’s meeting and plan monthly programs and assist with preparation for the Annual Meeting.
