Howard & Howard Expands Royal Oak Office; Welcomes Esshaki and Lee

 

ROYAL OAK, Mich., April 2, 2019 – Royal Oak-based law firm Howard & Howard is pleased to announce that Eric S. Esshaki and Timothy D. Lee have joined the firm. They will both practice out of the firm’s Royal Oak office.

Eric S. Esshaki concentrates his practice in all aspects of litigation including securities litigation, white collar and regulatory defense, employment, investigations, and shareholder disputes.

He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2016 and his B.I.S., summa cum laude, from Oakland University in 2012. He also received his associates in applied science/nursing from Oakland Community College in 2010 and previously worked as a Registered Nurse. Eric returns to Michigan after practicing law at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York City.  He is licensed to practice in New York and sat for the Michigan bar examination in February.

Timothy D. Lee’s practice focuses on representing borrowers and lenders in a variety of secured and unsecured commercial financing transactions including syndicated and single-lender transactions, asset-based and commercial real estate loans, and cross-border, mezzanine and acquisition financings. In addition, he provides guidance to clients seeking to navigate the complex regulatory environment of the financial services industry.

Timothy graduated summa cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law, as one of the top students in his class. He also received his B.A. from The College of Wooster in 2009. Prior to attending law school, Timothy worked in numerous legislative capacities within Michigan’s state government, ending his tenure as Legislative Director for the Chairman of House Banking and Financial Services Committee where he was named 2011 Legislative Staff Person of the Year by the Michigan Credit Union League and Affiliates. He is licensed to practice in the state of Michigan and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Nighswander joins Plunkett Cooney’s Litigation Department

Attorney Katherine M. Nighswander recently joined the Transportation Law and Torts & Litigation practice groups of Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms.

Nighswander, who is a member of the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office, focuses her practice in the areas of transportation law and litigation. She represents insurers and its insureds in matters involving no-fault law and motor vehicle negligence, premises liability, dramshop and general negligence allegations.

In addition to no-fault automobile and first-and third-party motor vehicle cases, Nighswander has experience defending personal injury claims, including dog bites; slips/trips and falls; falling objects; negligent hiring, training and supervision of employees; vicarious liability of employees; and product liability matters; as well as allegations of food contamination; foodborne illness and foreign materials in food.

Buford joins Plunkett Cooney’s Tort & Litigation Practice Group

A 2016 magna cum laude graduate of Michigan State University College of Law, attorney Alannah M. Buford recently joined the Torts & Litigation Practice Group of Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest’s oldest and largest law firms.

Buford, who is a member of the firm’s East Lansing office, focuses her practice in the areas of municipal law, general liability and medical malpractice defense. Seasoned labor and employment attorney joins Nemeth Law

Nemeth Law, P.C., a Detroit-based labor and employment law firm, announced that Michael J. Bommarito, J.D., has joined the firm as a senior attorney. The announcement was made by Nemeth Law founding partner Patricia Nemeth.

Immediately prior to joining Nemeth Law, Bommarito was an attorney with an Oakland County firm where he litigated cases in state, federal and appellate courts and before the National Labor Relations Board, the Michigan Employment Relations Commission, the EEOC and other administrative agencies and tribunals. His legal experience, which involved several multi-million dollar cases, included healthcare class action lawsuits, ERISA collections, benefits, employment discrimination and unfair labor practices.

Bommarito also worked for the City of Detroit Labor Relations Division where he was involved with grievances, Act 312 arbitration and collective bargaining agreements for multiple unions in a variety of occupations. He worked in a two attorney firm immediately out of law school, where the largest client was a major Michigan healthcare professional association.
