Butzel Long attorney Bernard (Bernie) Fuhs elected to firm’s Board of Directors

DETROIT, Mich. – Butzel Long attorney and shareholder Bernard (Bernie) J. Fuhs, has been elected to serve on the firm’s Board of Directors.

Fuhs is a nationally recognized expert on non-compete and trade secret matters, having litigated and/or counseled clients on such matters in all 50 states and has presented to many national and local business and/or legal organizations regarding the same.

Fuhs also has considerable experience in franchise litigation, minority shareholder oppression disputes, financial services industry disputes {including proceedings with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA)}, real estate, sales representative matters and cannabis law (licensing and appeals). He advises start-up and closely held businesses, as well as sports and fitness industry members.

Fuhs has been selected as a Business Litigation, Trade Secret and Franchise Top Lawyer by DBusiness Magazine. He has been named as a Michigan Super Lawyer
(an award recognized no more than 2.5% of lawyers in Michigan) every year since 2013.

Butzel Long attorney Beth S. Gotthelf featured during November 13 symposium focused on HUD’s Past, Present and Future

Beth S. Gotthelf, Attorney, Shareholder and Director of Innovation and External Relations, Butzel Long, will be a featured speaker during a two-day symposium in Detroit focused on HUD’s Past, Present and Future – November 13-14, 2017.

The symposium is presented by The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Gotthelf will speak on a panel that includes public officials; the President of the Progressive national Baptist Convention, Inc.; attorneys; and Arise, Detroit, a broad-based coalition of community groups with a mission to launch a new wave of volunteerism. The panel will offer insight on structuring the deal and business sustainability through economic empowerment, entrepreneurship and housing literacy.

Gotthelf represents and counsels a diverse mix of clients. She is Co-Chair of Butzel’s Energy and Sustainability Practice Team as well as Chair of the Birmingham Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. She also is an Executive-in-Residence with the Macomb-OU INCubator, serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau and is the President of the Michigan Israel Business Bridge, a bi-national chamber of commerce.

ANN ARBOR – September 5, 2013 – Steven L. Oberholtzer, Managing Partner of the Ann Arbor office of Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the U.S., has been named a Michigan Super Lawyer for 2013 in the practice area of intellectual property law in the eighth annual survey. Robert K. Fergan, John A. Lingl and Michael N. Spink, all shareholders in the Ann Arbor office, were named Michigan Rising Stars. Steve Oberholtzer was listed in the specialty area of patent law. His practice focuses on patent and trademark counseling, corporate intellectual property policy development and administration, technology licensing, joint development and joint venture relationship agreements. He also has experience in United States Patent and Trademark Office administrative proceedings including interferences, re-examinations, re-issues, trademark oppositions and patent application preparation and prosecution.
Oberholtzer has extensive experience with the intellectual property legal issues of the automotive industry.
