2013 Frankfurt Auto Show

The Chamber’s Business Attraction team joined a number of executives from local companies to attend to attend the 65th 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany, the world’s largest automotive show. Our group included: Martina Schlagwein (MEDC), Ray Byers (Wayne County EDGE), Dan Doescher (Plante Moran), Nick Stasevich (Butzel Long) and Rick Walewaender (Miller Canfield), along with Nigel Francis, who was recently announced as Michigan’s new senior automotive adviser.

Our team has spoken with nearly 100 global companies about opportunities for their firms in the Detroit region, as well as touched base with existing Detroit area firms about the new technology they are showcasing at the show.

Two highlights included our lunch with Wolfgang Schneider, the vice president of governmental and legal affairs for Ford Europe, and our trip to the most popular Biergarten in Frankfurt, where we were hosted by the North American International Auto Show. There, we were able to enjoy authentic German food while celebrating the auto industry, friendship, and the unwavering spirit of Detroit.
