April 12, 2013: NITC Presidential Permit Approval Clears Way for Growth, Jobs

Snyder-Bridge_very_smallThe Detroit Regional Chamber joined business, community and political leaders at Governor Rick Snyder’s press event on Friday, April 12, announcing the passage of the presidential permit for the New International Trade Crossing (NITC) at James Group International in Detroit. Construction of the NITC hinged on the approval of the permit and the project is now poised to move forward creating tens of thousands of jobs and bolstering Michigan’s position in the global economy.Brad Williams, the Chamber’s vice president of government relations, joined Governor Snyder, Lt. Governor Brian Calley and other political and business leaders from both sides of the Detroit-Windsor border who have worked in support of the project. The Chamber has been a long-time proponent of the NITC and helped lead an effort to successfully defeat a ballot initiative in November designed to prevent construction of the new crossing.
