The 2016 North American International Auto Show offered the perfect backdrop for the Detroit Regional Chamber to show the economic resurgence of Detroit to a global business audience. In addition to the automotive industry, the state and region’s assets were on display during a week of events hosted by the Chamber.
Among this year’s highlights include:
- Partnering with Delta Air Lines to host over 350 guests, including 54 economic developers and business prospects from around the nation, in the Delta Sky Lounge during Industry Preview Days.
- Leading a tour of the NAIAS showroom floor with the Michigan Legislature’s Automotive Caucus, and hosting a reception with MICHauto investors.
- Framing the auto industry and the Detroit region’s comeback for over a dozen local and national media, including: CCTV America, The Detroit News and WJR 760.
- Building on MICHauto’s #MichiganIsAuto social media campaign to increase awareness about the auto industry, including a billboard on I-94 near Detroit Metro Airport.
- Hosting senior members of the U.S. Army Materiel Command, TACOM and TARDEC for a tour of the NAIAS showroom floor to highlight the economic impact of the defense industry in Southeast Michigan.
- Inviting International Automotive Components President and CEO Steve Miller to keynote the MICHauto Annual Meeting, who discussed the importance of Michigan’s R&D leadership.
