Brinks attorney to serve as speaker for Cross-Border Institute and LTEC Cross Border Patent Protection conference in Windsor

ANN ARBOR / DETROIT – Nov. 12, 2014 – Keith Weiss, Ph. D., an attorney in the Michigan offices of Brinks Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the U.S., will serve as the guest speaker at the Cross-Border Institute and LTEC Cross Border Patent Protection conference on Tuesday, Nov. 18 in Windsor, Canada.

Dr. Weiss will present “How Canadian inventors and enterprises can leverage international patent laws to efficiently and effectively acquire cross-border patent protection,” in the University Club at Vanier Hall on the campus of the University of Windsor.

The Cross-Border Institute at the University of Windsor was founded in 2008 and focuses on the study of border issues from a multi-disciplinary perspective that includes economic development,
geography, engineering, management science and political science.

At Brinks, Dr. Weiss focuses his practice on patent prosecution and intellectual property agreements with an emphasis on IP portfolio planning, development, and management. Prior to practicing law, he worked for 20 years in R & D management, product development, and technology licensing. Dr. Weiss is listed as an inventor on 30 U.S. patents and 4 pending U.S. patent applications regarding advanced materials, components and systems used in the automotive, aerospace, coatings, plastics, and microelectronic industries.
