Business Attraction Promotes Regional Opportunities at U.S. Army Association Expo

n an effort to draw more military and defense-related investment to Southeast Michigan, the Chamber’s Business Attraction team participated in the Association of the United States Army’s (AUSA) annual meeting and expo in Washington, D.C. in October. The team collaborated with Macomb County, the Michigan Defense Center and Oakland County to market the region’s assets located in Macomb County’s defense corridor to more than 500 key military leaders.
As part of the expo, the delegation and Butzel Long hosted the Michigan Arsenal of Innovation Reception, which highlighted the state’s workforce and defense cluster. Speakers included Maj. Gen. Gwen Bingham, commanding general of U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command, as well as representatives from General Dynamics Land Systems and the Michigan Army National Guard.
This annual event allows the Business Attraction team to affirm its support for Michigan’s military infrastructure, sustain relationships with current defense firms and seek out new companies that could benefit by locating to the region.
