Carla Walker-Miller is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Walker-Miller Energy Services, the first Black-owned company in Michigan to obtain a B Corporation Certification and one of the largest African American and woman-owned waste reduction companies in the country.
Walker-Miller has received numerous awards throughout her career. In 2022 alone, her honors include the American Association of Blacks in Energy Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance Inspiring Energy Efficiency award, Women of Achievement and Courage Award by Michigan Women Forward, and the Max M. Fisher Award for Outstanding Philanthropist.
Driven by her giving spirit, Walker-Miller founded the Water Access Volunteer Effort (WAVE) Fund in 2003, while serving as a Commissioner for the City of Detroit Water and Sewerage Department.
Walker-Miller serves on numerous boards and committees, including the Mayor of Detroit’s Workforce Development, the Michigan Energy Innovation Business Council, and Michigan Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy. She is also the Executive Committee Chair for the Detroit Means Business Coalition and a trustee for the Hudson-Webber Foundation.
Walker-Miller received her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Tennessee State University.
