Portrait of Chris Priest, LARAChristopher Priest is deputy director of strategy for Gov. Rick Snyder, where he advises the Governor and his administration on various issues, including health care, insurance and financial matters. Previously, Priest served as project manager for the MI HEALTH Marketplace – Michigan’s health insurance exchange – in the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), as well as the director of the Bureau of Medicaid Policy and Health System Innovation in the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH), which was responsible for many aspects of the state’s Medicaid program and health reform issues.

Prior to his appointments, Priest served as director of the state of Michigan’s Washington, D.C. office under former Gov. Jennifer Granholm, advised governors from the state of Indiana and worked with private sector clients on health policy.

He earned a master’s degree in public policy from George Mason University in Virginia and a bachelor’s degree in public affairs from Indiana University.
