Christy McDonald

Christy McDonald is the anchor, moderator, and managing editor of One Detroit. She also anchors special coverage for WTVS Detroit PBS including documentaries, live news events, and the Mackinac Policy Conference. McDonald has appeared numerous times on the PBS NewsHour and CNN reporting on Michigan Politics and Detroit’s financial crisis.

A sought-after moderator, McDonald has led lively discussions at the Detroit Economic Club, Detroit Policy Conference, Mackinac Policy Conference, International Women’s Day events, and Business Leaders for Michigan’s CEO Summit among others. McDonald also co-moderated Gubernatorial debates in 2014 and 2018. She has appeared on WDET public radio as a guest host and panelist, as well as a featured guest on the syndicated radio show Remarkable Women and Anything is Possible. McDonald is an Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter. She reported for 10 years at WXYZ-TV and has received reporting honors from the Associated Press and Michigan Association of Broadcasters.

McDonald grew up in Troy and is a graduate of Troy High School. She is a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College with a degree in Political Philosophy.
