Detroit Regional Chamber Partners with PMBC for Matchmaking Summit with BCBSM

The Detroit Regional Chamber is continuing its successful partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Pure Michigan Business Connect (PMBC) program and conducted a “Connection Point” matchmaking summit with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan earlier this month at the company’s headquarters in downtown Detroit. Ninety-four companies were selected by BCBSM including companies like the Michigan State Alliance of YMCAs, TekWissen, Claro Health and CMS Med-Review, to participate in 130 20-minute, pre-arranged private meetings during the event. Participating companies, exemplifying Michigan’s leadership in health care-related services, were chosen based on BCBSM’s current needs in a wide variety of services areas. A majority of the suppliers selected were woman or minority-owned companies, a first for a PMBC event.

“The event today was an absolute success,” said Erica Howell, supplier diversity administrator for BCBSM.  “The Pure Michigan Business Connect Matchmaking Summit model is exactly what is needed to ensure that we are maximizing our inclusion of Michigan-based and diverse suppliers. We are excited about the wonderful response we received and are looking forward to the future.”
