Message from Chamber President and CEO on 2022 Midterm Election

November 8, 2022

Detroit Regional Chamber President and Chief Executive Officer Sandy K. Baruah issued the following statement as the state and nation await results of the 2022 midterm election.

“The Detroit Regional Chamber strongly urges voters, commentators, and candidates to not form conclusions about election outcomes until all votes are counted. Absentee ballots are guaranteed as part of the process by Michigan’s Constitution. But our laws do not allow for them to be counted early. We should all exercise patience and let the local clerks do their jobs before drawing conclusions about outcomes. Fair and secure elections are the cornerstone of a healthy democracy – which is essential for a vibrant economy – and we should all respect the process, then respect the results.”

-Sandy K. Baruah, President and Chief Executive Officer, Detroit Regional Chamber
