Employers Wanted for Challenge Detroit Host Companies, Deadline March 14

Challenge Detroit, a leadership development program aimed at attracting and retaining talent in the city, is now accepting applications for its 2016-2017 class of Fellows. For the first time since the program’s inception, Challenge Detroit is extending applications to companies interested in participating as a host company and recruiting a candidate through Challenge Detroit or nominating an existing employee for the program. Host companies will gain firsthand insight and impact on social change surrounding their community.

Throughout the year, Fellows will continue with their daily responsibilities at their company, and will also begin participating in “challenges” on Fridays for the opportunity to be immersed in the local community.

“If you don’t know the city, you will learn quickly. And if you think you know, Challenge Detroit will open your eyes to a lot more,” said Devon O’Reilly, manager of entrepreneurship and Detroit engagement for the Chamber.

O’Reilly, a 2015-2016 Fellow, said working with 30 other young people, many experiencing Detroit for the first time, brings a new creative energy to tackle some of the city’s most complex issues.

“Challenge Detroit immerses you in the community and every week you feel the impact by interacting with organizations that are making a positive difference,” he said.
