Hitachi Business Finance Continues Support of The Salvation Army at Annual Red Wings Alumni Hockey Game

Rochester, MI, Jan. 21, 2014 – Hitachi Business Finance today announced their support of The Salvation Army’s Annual Red Wings alumni hockey game benefitting the Bed & Bread Program.

On Saturday, January 25, members of the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association will face off against the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies and Troy Sting, as well as the Troy Youth Hockey Association, at the Troy Sports Center located at 1819 E. Big Beaver Rd. in Troy.

Ken Rogulski of News/Talk 760 WJR will emcee the event with the pre-game slated for 7:30 p.m. and the game to follow at 8 p.m. The pre-game program will include a tribute to Shawn Burr, a former Detroit Red Wings player who passed away in 2013 after a battle with leukemia. Burr was a strong supporter of The Salvation Army, playing in all of the previous year’s games.

“More than 5,000 meals are served daily to children, adults, and seniors by The Salvation Army Bed & Bread Program, and more than 400 men, women and children are sheltered on a nightly basis. For these reasons and more, Hitachi Business Finance is proud to once again support The Salvation Army Bed & Bread Program,” said Division President Mike Semanco. “Our company has been involved for the past eight years, and we are honored to do so again.”

Tickets are available for $12 per person by contacting Christina Gallop at (248) 443-5500.

As a prelude to the Detroit Red Wing alumni game, a ‘Skate-a-thon’ fundraiser will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24 at the Troy Sports Center. Oakland Jr. Grizzlies coaches and team members are raising pledge dollars for the cause.

All proceeds from these hockey events will be presented during the 27th annual Salvation Army Bed & Bread Club Radiothon, airing live on News/Talk 760 WJR from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21 at Oakland Mall in Troy.

The Radiothon is the nonprofit’s largest fundraiser for the Bed & Bread Program.
