Level One Bank Inaugurates Disaster Relief Program (DRP)

Farmington Hills, Mich. In the wake of recent local flooding that resulted in the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) declaring many cities inMetropolitan Detroit as disaster areas in the past month, Level One Bank haslaunched a new Disaster Relief Program (DRP), offering residents up to $15,000 in limited federal grant assistance.

Level One Bank’s Disaster Relief Program, developed in partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB), is designed to help low-to-moderate income individuals in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne Counties restore their homes damaged by flooding in state or federally declared disaster areas. A total of $6 million has been earmarked by FHLB to be awarded to qualified homeowners nationwide – dollars that are in great demand.

“Our area is competing with others across the country for these limited funds,” said David Watkins, Community Lending Officer at Level One Bank. “As such, it is vital that those affected apply for the program as soon as possible. Time is absolutely of the essence for our neighbors to receive the help they need to complete the long process of rebuilding from these devastating storms.”

Qualifying residents must have a household income equal to or less than 80% of the Area Median Income; have owner-occupant status; and have resided in the home for at least 18 months as a primary residence. Additional eligibility requirements may apply.

“This is an incredible recovery program, in particular for individuals with nowhere else to turn for financing for repairs,” said David. “These are grants that will allow those hardest hit to recover and get back on their feet again.”

Through a streamlined application process, dollars for qualified homeowners can be secured within approximately 30 days.
