Malcolm Gladwell, National Best-Selling Author, to Keynote Mackinac Policy Conference, May 27-30

Best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell will be a keynote speaker at the Detroit Regional Chamber’s 2014 Mackinac Policy Conference, to be held May 27-30. A writer for The New Yorker since 1996, Gladwell is the author of five New York Times best sellers, with his book, “David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits and the Art of Battling Giants,” currently listed at No. 1. He has also been named one of the 100 most influential people by TIME Magazine and one of Foreign Policy’s Top Global Thinkers.

Glenn Stevens Named Chamber’s New Vice President of MICHauto and Strategic Development

The Chamber announced the addition of Glenn Stevens as the organization’s vice president of MICHauto and strategic development. MICHauto will introduce Stevens to its members at its Annual Meeting and Reception on Thursday, January 9 at the Detroit Athletic Club.

In his new role, Stevens will provide strategic direction to MICHauto in its efforts to promote, grow and retain Michigan’s automotive industry, and will work on the Chamber’s Detroit Regional Prosperity Campaign. To read the official release, click here.

Chamber Leaders Discuss Next Steps for Detroit and Michigan Business on ‘Michigan Matters’

Detroit Regional Chamber CEO Sandy Baruah appeared on CBS 62’s “Michigan Matters” on Sunday, January 5 to speak with host Carol Cain about the work being done by the Chamber to promote business in Detroit as well as what is on the horizon for the city and the state of Michigan as 2014 progresses. Other chamber of commerce leaders participating in the discussion were Rich Studley, president and CEO of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, and Ken Harris, president and CEO of the Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce.
