Mark Muro is senior fellow and policy director of the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings Institution. Muro is an expert on regional technology ecosystems, digitalization, and economic development and has published extensively on advanced industries, manufacturing, innovation, automation, digital trends, energy, and regional development issues.

Muro’s most recent work focuses on the industry and labor market underpinnings of building an “advanced economy that works for all.” He is also focused on the divergence of community economic performance. Muro earned a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College and a master’s degree in American studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
