Michigan’s Entrepreneurial Climate Ranks Sixth Nationally, First in Midwest

Michigan’s entrepreneurial climate is ranked sixth nationally, and first among Midwestern states, according to recent reports from MiQuest and the Michigan Venture Capital Association. The No. 6 national ranking follows the state’s previous low ranking of 41st.

The ascension up the rankings highlights the major improvements that Michigan has achieved since 2009, in the face of challenging economic circumstances. Success was bolstered by a 44 percent increase in the number of venture capital firms in Michigan, and capital venture projects reaching their highest level in state history, with 40 companies investing more than $120 million in 2013 and bringing additional jobs to Michigan.
