Former Two-Term Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels: ‘Michigan is Getting its Mojo Back’

The primary objective of government should be to control spending and balance budgets, while promoting an environment of opportunity that nurtures individual accomplishments and collective success. Mitch Daniels, president of Purdue University and former Governor of Indiana, stressed the importance of placing a premium on growing the private economy through responsible government.

Following his remarks, Daniels was interviewed by Devin Scillian, anchor on WDIV-TV 4, NBC. Daniels urged Michigan to return to forward thinking and embrace innovative ideas, no matter their source. He stated that public leadership begins with honesty, simple competence and a commitment to measuring success and failure. This session was sponsored by Meijer.
