‘Morning Joe’ Talks Bipartisanship at Mackinac

Mika_Joe_eDetBipartisanship on every level was in the 2013 Mackinac Policy Conference spotlight this afternoon as MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough brought their signature, free-wheeling approach to policy analysis to the Conference.

Brzezinski and Scarborough took the Conference audience on a personal journey through their lives and backgrounds and identified the differences between their own political perspectives. Identifying their fundamental differences led to a deeper look at how they are able to provide a balanced discussion to Americans every morning. They used their own collaborative, open-minded relationship as an example for the bipartisanship necessary for the nation and for Detroit to be successful in the 21st century.

Continuing their discussion on the impact and importance of collaboration and compromise, Scarborough and Brzezinski were then joined on stage by WDIV-TV 4 NBC’s anchor Devin Scillian who discussed the prevalence of nontraditional media and the struggle to maintain quality journalist standards. Mika and Joe concluded the session by alluding to the possibility of the show focusing on Detroit very soon. This session was sponsored by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
