New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu to Keynote at Mackinac Policy Conference

The Chamber announces Mitch Landrieu, mayor of New Orleans, as a keynote speaker at the 2014 Mackinac Policy Conference on Friday, May 30, beginning a critical discussion on urban revitalization on the final day of the Conference. As cities around the nation watch Detroit’s bankruptcy process, Mayor Landrieu will provide unique insight from New Orleans’ transformation and highlight key lessons learned for Detroit.

Following Mayor Landrieu’s address, he will participate in an on-stage discussion with moderator Craig Fahle, general manager, broadcast and programming; host, “The Craig Fahle Show,” WDET.

The session precedes other related programming focused specifically on Detroit and urban revitalization, including a keynote address by Kevyn Orr, emergency manager, City of Detroit. Later in the morning, Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Henderson, editorial page editor, Detroit Free Press, will moderate a panel on Detroit’s future with Michigan leaders: Gerry Anderson, chairman and CEO, DTE Energy; Jase Bolger, speaker, Michigan House of Representatives; Brenda Jones, president, Detroit City Council; and Rip Rapson, president and CEO, The Kresge Foundation.
