Niel Golightly

Niel Golightly is vice president of external relations for Shell. His responsibilities include oversight of Shell’s reputation, brand, stakeholder engagement and issues management in North and South America. He previously served as Shell’s vice president of Downstream Sustainable Development and communications, based in London.

Golightly joined Shell in 2006, after a 12-year career at Ford Motor Co., where he served as director of Sustainable Business Strategies; vice president of Public Affairs for Ford of Europe; and director of the Chairman’s Office. Prior to that, he served 13 years on active duty with the U.S. Navy, as a fighter pilot and senior Pentagon speechwriter.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Cornell University and studied at the University of Konstanz in Germany.
