PAC-Endorsed Candidates Victorious in City Elections

Tuesday proved to be another successful campaign cycle for the Chamber’s Political Action Committee (PAC) as its endorsed candidates cruised to victory. In addition to Mike Duggan’s win in the mayoral race, six of the eight endorsed city council candidates were victorious marking a resounding success for the continued renaissance of Detroit’s business climate.

The PAC supported Duggan at the beginning of his historic write-in candidacy in the primary election, carrying that support through the general election. Duggan defeated Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon 74,254 to 60,448 (55% to 45%).

Winners for city council included: James Tate (Incumbent – District 1), Scott Benson(District 3), Andre Spivey (Incumbent – District 4), Raquel Castaneda-Lopez (District 6), Gabe Leland (District 7) and Saunteel Jenkins (Incumbent – At-large).

The PAC would like to thank candidates Rick Bowers Jr. (District 2) and Adam Hollier(District 5) for their hard-fought campaigns and commitment to Detroit.
