Paula Cunningham

State Director, AARP Michigan

Paula Cunningham is the state director for AARP Michigan. Her main responsibilities include leading and directing the advocacy and community outreach work of AARP and its 1.4 million members in the state of Michigan.

Prior to joining AARP Michigan, Cunningham served as CEO of Capitol National Bank for nine years. During her time tenure, she was also the only African-American woman in the country to be president of a majority owned bank.

Cunningham is the recipient of the 2016 Michigan Black Caucus Trailblazer Award and Athena Award, was inducted into the Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame, and was featured in Ebony Magazine as a “Woman on the Move.”
