The 2024 Mackinac Policy Conference will take place from Tuesday, May 28, to Friday, May 31, at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
During preparation for the 2023 Conference, the Chamber received feedback from attendees who had trouble accessing hotel rooms on Mackinac Island. To address this feedback, the Chamber’s leadership met with Mackinac Island hotel owners and city officials to identify improvements for 2024. As a result, the following updates have been made to help you prepare for the 2024 Conference.
Conference Registration
Individuals interested in attending the Conference can register online beginning Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023. Individuals will receive a Conference hotel code when their registration is complete. This code is required to secure room reservations at Mackinac Island hotels.
Starting Nov. 29, 2023, the Conference registration fee is $2,950 for Chamber members and $3,900 for future Chamber members. Registration fees will increase on March 1, 2024.
Mackinac Island Hotel Rooms (Other Than Grand Hotel)
Mackinac Island hotels, except for Grand Hotel, will begin accepting room reservations on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, at 9 a.m. Your Conference hotel code is required to make a room reservation. Rooms will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until Monday, Jan. 15, 2024. After Jan. 15, 2024, the hotels may release open rooms to individuals not registered for the Conference.
A list of Mackinac Island hotels with room availability will be posted on the Chamber’s website on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023. This list will be updated through Jan. 15, 2024.
Grand Hotel Rooms
Due to the increasing room requirements for sponsors, speakers, the Chamber’s Board of Directors, and select government officials, Grand Hotel will no longer hold a “call-in day” for room reservations. If you previously accessed a room by calling the Grand Hotel to make a reservation, you will need to secure accommodations at a different hotel.
If you traditionally access a Grand Hotel room through the Chamber, the Chamber will reach out to you directly via email on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, with the details you need to secure your reservation. If you have questions about your Grand Hotel access through the Chamber, please contact Marianne Bogard at mbogard@detroitchamber.com.
An application to join a waitlist for Grand Hotel rooms will be available on the Chamber’s website on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023. Individuals must be registered for the Conference to be added to the waitlist. There is no guarantee that individuals on the waitlist for a Grand Hotel room will gain access to a room. The Chamber highly encourages anyone submitting their name to the waitlist to make alternative hotel accommodations.
Mackinaw City Rooms
Mackinaw City offers additional accommodation options for attendees. A list of suggested Mackinaw City hotels will be posted on the Chamber’s website on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023.
To accommodate attendees staying in Mackinaw City, the Chamber will schedule additional complimentary ferries for the 2024 Conference on Tuesday, May 28; Wednesday, May 29; and Thursday, May 30.
The Chamber believes these changes will provide clarity to the Conference registration process and hotel access for attendees and will continue to monitor customer feedback to identify additional improvements for 2025.
