Shark Tank Co-Star and FUBU Founder Daymond John to Keynote 2016 Mackinac Policy Conference

Building off the 2016 Mackinac Policy Conference pillar of entrepreneurship, co-star of ABC’s “Shark Tank” and founder of FUBU, Daymond John will give a morning keynote address on Thursday, June 2 at the Conference.

From humble beginnings to self-made millionaire, John brings over 20 years of hands-on business experience to the stage. As founder and CEO of FUBU, John steered his company from a concept to a global fashion powerhouse with annual retail sales exceeding $350 million at its peak.

John has a proven track record as an award-winning entrepreneur, aligning with the Conference’s discussion on how to build a progressive and robust entrepreneurial economy to achieve sustainable job growth and increased capital investment.

John is also a best-selling author and will release his third book in January 2016, “The Power of Broke: How Empty Pockets, a Tight Budget, and a Hunger for Success Can Become Your Greatest Competitive Advantage,” which talks about harnessing the “power of broke” to think creatively, alternatively and aggressively.

In May 2015, the White House appointed John as Global Ambassador of Entrepreneurship as part of the PAGE Program, an initiative to work with underserved entrepreneurs and emerging digital influencers to help them build customer bases and brands.

Serving as Michigan’s Center Stage, the Conference will drive a statewide dialogue by focusing on the pillars of entrepreneurship, urban education and investing in the future.
