sheila-updatedSheila Cockrel is the president of Crossroads Consulting and Communications Group, a firm specializing in providing assistance to companies looking to bring strategic business solutions to local governments. As a full-service public policy and public affairs consultancy, it provides a select and diverse client base with strategic advice and consultation on local government process, protocols and government permitting. Cockrel established Crossroads in 2009 after serving four consecutive terms on the Detroit City Council.

In her 16 years of service as a councilmember, she earned a reputation as someone who acted with integrity. In addition to her role as at Crossroads, Cockrel serves as a member of the adjunct faculty at Wayne State University’s Irvin D. Reid Honors College and holds a seat on the university’s Board of Visitors. She consults Institute for Local Government (IFLG) at University of Michigan-Dearborn and is a frequent guest on local broadcast news media outlets, drawing on her expertise and experience in local government. Cockrel earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a master’s degree in urban planning from WSU.
