Special Edition: North American International Auto Show Takes Detroit by Storm

Detroit Regional Chamber’s Business Attraction Program Hosts CITCA During NAIAS

CITCA photoDuring this year’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Business Attraction team hosted a delegation from the Chicago International Trade Commissioner’s Association (CITCA), a volunteer organization comprised of trade representatives from more than 40 foreign governments, in order to showcase the region’s economic development initiatives and business opportunities.

The group participated in two-day event accompanied by both public and private partners for tours of facilities including NextEnergy, Wayne State University, the M@dison Building and Rayconnect, Inc. MICHauto Partners Showcase University Research Corridor at 2013 NAIAS

The Detroit Regional Chamber’s MICHauto program partnered with the University Research Corridor (URC) – made up of Wayne State University, University of Michigan and Michigan State University – today by taking reporters on a tour of the North American International Auto Show with URC researchers. Participating reporters had the chance to see firsthand the impact the $300 million spent on more than 1,400 automotive research projects in the last 5 years has had on vehicle quality and safety, reduced fossil fuel use and improved engine efficiency and performance.

Reporters also received a copy of the new “Michigan is Auto” report, released by MICHauto last week. The report, a substantive analysis of the automotive assets and resources that continue to make Michigan the preferred location for automotive investment, is designed to be used by economic development entities across the state to help business and investment attraction efforts. Paul Eisenstein Speaks to Detroit Regional Chamber Board During NAIAS

TPaulhe Detroit Regional Chamber Board of Directors welcomed Paul Eisenstein, publisher and bureau chief, The Detroit Bureau, to speak yesterday at COBO Center during the first day of the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) Industry Preview. Eisenstein spoke to the Board about the mood and the optimism on the floor at the NAIAS this year.

He noted that domestic original equipment manufacturers are generating product news, tuning into customer demand and are expanding their foreign market shares. He went on to say that the industry has right-sized and now employs greater business discipline. Eisenstein also stated that the current advancements in efficiency and design are revolutionary and emblematic of the return of American manufacturing.

Detroit Regional Chamber Hosts Foreign and Domestic Delegations at NAIAS Delta Sky Lounge

NAIAS2013_DeltaSkyLounge_smThanks to the Detroit Regional Chamber’s longstanding partnership with Delta Air Lines and the Chamber’s commitment to supporting and growing Michigan’s automotive industry, the Chamber hosted hundreds of economic development prospects, major investors and visiting delegations during the Industry Preview days at the North American International Auto Show.

The Chamber operates the Delta Sky Lounge in partnership with Delta each year to entertain prospects as part of the Chamber’s business attraction and retention efforts. Among this year’s visiting delegations were the Chicago International Trade Commissioner’s Association, a delegation of representatives from Shinola and a Mexican delegation including Governor Ruben Moreira of Coahuila.
