Statement of Detroit Regional Chamber June 16, 2020

June 16, 2020 — The Detroit Regional Chamber issued the following statement today:

“The U.S. Supreme Court made a landmark decision that will provide millions of LGBTQ people new civil rights protections in the workplace. The High Court’s decision is consistent with the Chamber’s support for expanding the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act in Michigan to include sexual orientation and gender identity protections for the LGBTQ community. Since 2014, the Chamber has advocated for this expansion and the importance of workforce diversity to our state’s future. We are in a global war for talent and need the best and brightest individuals – regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. ”
