IPS Technology Services Wins a Consulting Engagement to Implement an EHR package for a Physician’s Office in Metro Detroit

TROY, Mich., November 11, 2014 –IPS Technology Services recently won a project with a local physician’s office to help implement a comprehensive Electronic Health Records (EHR) system and to provide the necessary training and consulting to the staff to ensure a successful transition.

As with most physicians whose practice has spanned a few decades, the client is in need of a complete transition from paper-based patient records to an EHR system. IPS Technology Services will manage the installation of an electronic health records software program in the client’s office, as well as convert all of the paper files into digital format. By switching to an EHR format, the client will be able to better track patient records, reduce paper waste, limit the space needed to house physical records, and will be able to better protect patients’ confidentiality.

In addition to the establishment of an EHR system, IPS Technology Services will also set up practice management software to assist the client in scheduling appointments, maintaining a list of insurance companies, performing billing tasks and generating required reports. IPS Technology Services will also address the client’s Revenue Cycle Management, to ensure that the office is receiving payments for all services rendered in a timely manner.

Finally, IPS Technology Services will provide consulting to the client for both Meaningful Use and Accountable Care Organization (ACO). Meaningful Use will allow the office to utilize EHR improve patient care coordination, to reduce health disparities, and to engage patients and their families. ACO or Accountable Care Organization aims to provide well-coordinated, patient-centered healthcare with the goal of achieving improved health, improved patient experiences and lower costs. IPS Technology Services Adds ACO Consulting to Growing List of Services

TROY, Mich., April 17, 2013 —IPS Technology Services is expanding its current service offerings with the addition of ACO—Accountable Care Organization—consulting services.

ACO or Accountable Care Organization aims to provide well-coordinated, patient-centered healthcare with the goal of achieving improved health, improved patient experiences and lower costs. The fundamental premise of ACO is to set up processes and infrastructure to help providers get reimbursed based on outcome (quality) and not based on fees for service (quantity) which is required by the new Healthcare Law when it is fully enforced. This is why the trend towards adopting ACO by the providers is up as reported by Leavitt Partners, a healthcare consulting firm in Salt Lake City. According to Leavitt Partners, there are 330 ACOs in operation as of November 2012—up from 164 in 2011.

To discourage over-utilization, many payers have shifted from fee-for-service compensation, which rewards physicians for treatment volume, to risk-sharing arrangements that prioritize outcomes. Under the new system, when treatments deliver the desired results, provider compensation may be less than before.

ACOs are here to stay and it is going to be an immensely important tool to stay in business because the benefits are proving to be real. It will improve the quality of care and reduce waste as well as help organizations implement value-based care concepts in a step-by-step fashion.
