Walsh Students Receive Financial Executives International Academic Award

TROY, Mich., Mar. 5, 2019 — Two Walsh students, Jacob Bommarito and Chad Detrich, have received the Financial Executives International (FEI) Academic Award from the FEI Detroit chapter. FEI is a professional organization for senior-level financial executives with more than 10,000 members and 65 chapters.

Each year, FEI’s Detroit chapter recognizes an outstanding undergraduate and graduate student in accounting or finance at colleges and universities in Southeastern Michigan. The award is based on academic achievement, service, and a commitment to a career in accounting or finance.

Bommarito studied at St. Clair Community College before transferring to Walsh to complete a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Finance at Walsh while working as an asset liability management analyst. “Receiving this award is an honor I cannot fully take credit for,” said Bommarito. “I am thankful to my Walsh professors for their investment in my life and my parents for their undying support.”

Detrich worked in law enforcement before earning a Master of Science in Finance at Walsh. “I took a leap of faith enrolling at Walsh, leaving a job in law enforcement to pursue a career in corporate finance,” said Detrich. “Much of what I learned applies directly to my work and has impacted my professional life.” He is now employed as a finance associate in a Fortune 500 company.
