Rehmann nets fourth consecutive win as best public accounting firm for women

For the fourth consecutive year, Rehmann has been named to the Accounting MOVE Project’s Top 10 Best CPA Firms for Women List, which recognizes firms with high proportions of women partners and principals.

The winning firms had to demonstrate three key characteristics: consistent, measurable progress in advancing women to leadership positions; proven and evolving programs that retain and advance women; and clear and compelling integration of the business case for advancing women.

“We take great pride in being included on this list,” said Rehmann CEO Randy Rupp. “At Rehmann, we recognize the importance and value of implementing leadership development programs that assist women in expanding their networks and growing their careers. Our Women’s Initiative Network offers tracks that help growth trajectory via a variety of business skills and self-evaluation.”

Amy Flourry, chair of Rehmann’s Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) council, said, “I am very proud to be a part of a company like Rehmann. Being in the Top 10 of this national list is not a small feat. It takes deliberate effort and support from management to succeed. It is a testament that if given the support and necessary tools, women can have a very rewarding accounting career and contribute to the practice.”

The 2016 Accounting MOVE Project reports a significant boost in the proportion of women partners and principals at the 49 CPA firms participating in the project nationwide — an average of 23 percent, up from 17 percent in 2012.

The Accounting MOVE Project, released by the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance and the American Women’s Society of Certified Public Accountants, is an annual survey of leading financial and accounting firms to determine the state of women in the industry. Developed by research partner Wilson-Taylor Associates, Inc., The Accounting MOVE Project is based on the MOVE methodology: M – Money, O – Opportunity, V – Vital supports, and E – Entrepreneurship.

MCCI Moves to Downtown Detroit Office

DETROIT, June 16, 2014 – Full-service integrated marketing firm MCCI (aka Mort Crim Communications, Inc.) has officially opened its new design-innovative downtown Detroit headquarters. It features iconic furnishings, art pieces and reconstructed materials.
The office is located in Suite 501 of the historic Murphy-Telegraph Building at 155 W. Congress, the former home to Western Union about a century ago. MCCI’s new home sports highly creative collaborative working space, high-tech features such as multimedia studios and two-way video conferencing, a stunning board room and a naturally-lit optimistic working environment.
The office is filled with features that reflect the company’s Southeast Michigan roots, including:
• Re-planed wood flooring from Reclaim Detroit that came from reconstructed Detroit materials;
• Artwork from University of Michigan design and architecture entrepreneur Anya Sirota;
• A custom walnut board room conference table designed and created by Detroit’s Ali Sandifer Studio; and
• A table in our kitchen area was custom-created by Alan Kaniarz of A.K. Services.

“We made the decision to move to Detroit not only because of our need for more creative and digital technology space, but also because we were looking to be in a historic building in a walking community,” said MCCI President and CEO Terry Oprea. “The Detroit Economic Growth Corporation educated us about the downtown possibilities – and the Gatzaros family, owners of 400 Monroe Associates who own the building, truly wanted our particular creative services firm to be their partner. They did a terrific job constructing our office.”

The office was designed and created by the Detroit-based husband and wife duo Joel Schmidt and Elizabeth Skrisson, founders of D MET design.

“MCCI as a client is really trusting, collaborative and liberating,” Schmidt and Skrisson said. “We always feel the ideal client is really passionate about what they do and see the potential for how a space can enhance that work. MCCI’s space reflects its personality – a classic modern style – balanced with visionary ideas. In the design, we reflected elements of a classic media company with a forward-thinking studio culture.”
MCCI will continue to maintain a service office in Southfield, Mich., as well as a multimedia and digital production center in the GM Renaissance Center in Detroit. The firm has leased 14,000 square feet of space of the Murphy-Telegraph Building. A total of 9,000 square feet has been completed and occupied, with an option on an additional 5,000 square feet of adjacent space.
